Whiskey Pickleback Shot Recipe

Picklebacks are one of the best shots recipes and maybe the best whiskey drink recipe. It’s whiskey, it is pickles… what is not to love?

Not to mention that both tastes somehow eliminate each other the instant you combine them leaving you with the perfect fusion of any shot ever created.

If you want the best shot recipe that isn’t sweet but also not a harsh shot taste then this is a great all around shot recipe. It is also of course one of the most easy shot recipes to make with just two ingredients side by side. How do you make a pickleback shot, it is simple, just see the video below.

What makes this shot exceptional is that it is a “tough guy” shot where you aren’t drinking some fruity this or that but taking a shot of whiskey. Meanwhile, you get this little pickle chaser which takes it from being punched in the mouth to caressed like a sweet lamb in an open field.

I had too many pickleback testers while writing this so not sure where I was going with the lamb part. With that said, it truly is the perfect shot as it is strong and you can order it feeling like a whiskey tough person while getting some ease through the pickle juice.

On top of that pickle juice helps get the salts back in your body so really you also are fighting a hangover all at the same time! The depletion of salts and electrolytes are a major reason you get a hangover thus this makes it even better. This shot is basically a superfood… Trust me, I wrote the entire hangover guide here.

You absolutely have to do a Pickleback if you’ve never done one before. I do Picklebacks with everyone for something unique or people who want whiskey but without the kick. Full disclosure pickles are my favorite food but really you don’t taste much pickle and it automatically kills the whiskey kick, like I said, the best fusion.

Apparently these shots were created in New York originally… however I really think it was Canada. New York can stick with pizza and martinis, we are taking the pickleback shot in for Canada… we can agree to disagree.

Random thought but some people call pickleback shots by pickleback shooters and I will tell everyone to retire the word shooters from their dictionary as this isn’t 1987. The pickleback shot, however, is delightful. If you want the best 6 shots like the one below then see this article.

It also doesn’t get much easier than this shot… literally grab whiskey, pickle juice… and you are done. No time to waste, break this out next time you have people over.

What are the best pickles?

I am glad you didn’t ask… as someone whose favorite food is pickles I have eaten them all. #1 My grandma’s pickles. #2 Grillos pickles you can get at Whole Foods. #3 Clausen pickles. You have to try those Grillos pickles, my goodness they are amazing.

With that said, here is the pickleback shot recipe. It is the perfect hard hitting but still good shot and they might be your new favorite!
